My favorite clothes are faded and tattered

My favorite clothes are falling apart.


I can either dress to look and feel happy,

Or I can wear new, just to look smart.


Gossamer and lace, seed beads and bows.

Well-polished slippers, I'm light on my toes.

Will I borrow the wings of the gull To leave the storm behind Will they carry me out through the lull In torrent tossing winds? When the hurricane's blowing I'll fly away Buildings imploding I'll fly away Can we still fly away? Will I borrow the cheetah's speed To leave the fires behind? Will I run past the flaming weeds Escape the searing heat? When the wildfires start burning I'll run away Smoke churning I'll run away Can we still run away? COMING HOME Karen Lewis I turn my back to the wind, I Tie my scarf 'gainst the tempest roar Put one foot front of the other Til I reach the stout wooden door Coming home. There's a fire on the hearth And a hot soup for me. A smile on my lover's face. Home is where the heart returns From every other place. We roam the earth for adventure To meet new folks and new ways We do our work in the outside world Facing dangers and troubled days
