BRING ALL THE PEOPLE HOME

BRING ALL THE PEOPLE HOME Karen Lewis There's a better land Than the place we're living now. There's a brighter future we could have If we knew how. Well I have lots of knowledge And I know that you do too. So gather round the circle Gather round the circle  Neath the moon. And I call my brothers  And I call my friends I call my neighbors  To come down and join their hands. And I call my sisters And I call myself And we call each other To bring all the people All the people home.  There's a wider family  Than the one we're born into. There's a deeper peace That depends on what we do. Well I know how to make friends And I know that you do too. So gather round the campfire Gather round the fire and speak the truth.

IN THE MOMENT

IN THE MOMENT Karen Lewis Time to see you Time goes  by Time to see you Time goes by The moment's the same all over the world Send your shining face and I'll be here singing. Time to see you Time goes by. Day night day night day night. Day night day, to night. Time to hear you Time goes by Time to hear you Time goes by. The moment's the same all over the world. Call me on the phone and I'll be here singing. Time to hear you. Time goes by. Day night day night day night. Day night day, today. Be with me, in the moment.

GAIA

GAIA Karen Lewis The goddess Gaia walks along the lakeshore Thru remnants of the forest that she planned. In the heat, she is losing her powers And angry fires rage across the land. The goddess dips her hand into the water The once-cool liquid now a tepid green. As the lives wink out below the surface She cries to us with every voice she can... CHORUS Bring me back.. Give me back Loose me back My powers For every fish that swims beneath the water, For every creature walking on the land, There were once many more in her keeping. But we have taken much that was for them. She plants a stand of trees to breathe her life force. All knowing we may cut them down again. Still she tries to replenish her garden. And calls to us that we must do the same. CHORUS For power we have raided every storehouse For power we have torn up all the land We have burned the preserves of her ages. To do the work we would not do by hand. She tries to hide our excess in the ocean. She tries to slough it off u...

SONG FOR TROUBLED TIMES

SONG FOR TROUBLED TIMES Karen Lewis Hold strong like an oak Sway free like bamboo Grow roots like a willow  When the spring thaw is due Let your troubles slip by On a stream running through Let the northern wind blow  Through your branches And hold to what’s true.

BEND AND SWAY

BEND AND SWAY Nick Fox and Karen Lewis The sea doesn’t care What’s in the way Sends waves crashing in a Violent display Can turn volcanoes into sand and clay You can be the volcano Or you can bend and sway You can shutter your windows When the north wind blows When the tornado’s comin’ You better be down the road Try to stand your ground - Or Even shelter in place But when that twister comes a-howlin’ You better be some other place. Rigid things are Easily shattered Narrow minds Never learn But one true thing I have found Whatever life may throw your way There are times you should stand your ground And there are times to bend and sway There are times you need to Stand your ground Be true to yourself and Not be pushed around You can choose to Avoid the fray Take a different stance Bend and Sway One true thing I have found Whatever life may throw your way There are times to stand your ground There are times to bend and sway There are times to stand your ground There are times to ben...

ON THIS ROAD

ON THIS ROAD Karen Lewis Some folks live in the valley of plenty Some survive, nearly on empty Lay it down, lay it all down All this heavy heavy load Lay it down, lay it all down On this road. Some have pain in merely living. Some have pain of others' imposing. Lay it down, lay it all down, All this burden all this woe. Lay it down, lay it all down On this road. Would you take a walk in the garden? Would you ask your neighbor for pardon? Tear it down, tear it all down.. All this bitter wall from long ago. Tear it down, tear it all down On this road.

OH, WATER!

OH, WATER! Karen Lewis Oh, Water, Glug glug. Drink it by the bottle Drink it by the jug. Oh, Water,  Water, Water Oh, Water by the jug

HOLD ME CLOSER

HOLD ME CLOSER Karen Lewis Hold me closer Closer tonight Hold me closer In your arms so tight. All the stars are winking at me All the roads are dark. So why do I feel like I'm slipping away? Hold me closer Closer tonight Hold me closer In your arms so tight. The walls are strong, the door is shut. All the windows tight. So why do I feel your love blowing away? Long time love is not the house we live in Nor the habits of the night. All those turns that brought us here together, Can't we turn toward each other tonight? Hold me closer Closer tonight Hold me closer All the stars are winking at me All the rooms are dark So hold me, keep me from floating away. Floating away. Floating away.

SHINE LIKE A STAR

SHINE LIKE A STAR Karen Lewis Sometimes I shine like a star Sometimes I shine like a daytime moon. My  heart wants to shine Like a star o'er the ocean On the glittering foam  A navigation beacon But here in the night time  Are myriad stars As brightly as I shine I'm one in a million My heart wants to shine Like the sun o'er a meadow Sunflowers turning  Their round faces towards me But all I can manage  Is moonlight in daylight A delight for the moment Then all but forgotten. We all long to be heard  To be seen in the darkness And we all can be held By holding each other We all shine together  In the milky way garden Maybe once in a lifetime We're daylight moons shining

LONG-FORGOTTEN HILLS

LONG-FORGOTTEN HILLS Karen Lewis On the winding road You are here beside me  Here to hold my hand  Through all of life's turnings. We have travelled far On this road together. We have made a life entwined. Heart to heart and mind to mind. You gave me constant love I gave you spirited children. You gave me boats so we could Travel together. You gave me dahlias, I Captured them in paint. All the gifts have come and gone. As our lives have moved along. Look well, go slowly Through the long-forgotten hills.... If we could return to the start of the road, No doubt in my mind... I'd choose you every time. Can we leave the home Where we raised our children? Leave the porch where they carved their initials. Leave the handprint plates? Maybe keep the teapot? Leave the children's beds and toys Only save remembered joys. Look well, go slowly Through the long-forgotten hills.... If we could return to the start of the road, (The hills and the valleys of our journey together) No doubt in...

LEND YOUR VOICE

LEND YOUR VOICE Karen Lewis Lend your voice to the sparrow. Lend your voice to the hawk. Let your wishes fly on wings That their deep fulfillment brings. And the future doors will all unlock. Sing the peace that you wish for. Sing a lake clear and wide. Let the strong vibrations fill  From the wellspring of your will And cascade upon the mountainside.  We all have trials, we all feel pain. We're doomed to relive it again and again, Until we can sing out a stronger refrain To build up our world again. Lend your voice to creation. Sing the sun and the rain. Sing of loving human hearts And your song will be the start Of the flowering upon the plain.
