SHINE LIKE A STAR

SHINE LIKE A STAR

Karen Lewis

Sometimes I shine like a star

Sometimes I shine like a daytime moon.

My  heart wants to shine

Like a star o'er the ocean

On the glittering foam

A navigation beacon

But here in the night time

Are myriad stars

As brightly as I shine

I'm one in a million

My heart wants to shine

Like the sun o'er a meadow

Sunflowers turning

Their round faces towards me

But all I can manage

Is moonlight in daylight

A delight for the moment

Then all but forgotten.

We all long to be heard

To be seen in the darkness

And we all can be held

By holding each other

We all shine together

In the milky way garden

Maybe once in a lifetime

We're daylight moons shining
