ROCK UPON THE WAVES

ROCK UPON THE WAVES Karen Lewis We ride the waves through peaks and troughs Across the ocean, feeling lost. But there is balance in motion too, And peace in being upon the blue. Rock rock rock upon the waves. Sing sing, blue is all around you so Rock rock rock upon the waves. Sing, sing, blue is all around. We walk the trails through ups and downs With deepest darkest forest around. Although the farmlands feed us best We'll find a home where e'er we rest. Walk, walk, walk among the trees. Sing, sing, Green is all around you so Walk, walk, walk among the trees. Sing, sing, Green is all around.

COMING HOME

COMING HOME Karen Lewis I turn my back to the wind, I Tie my scarf 'gainst the tempest roar Put one foot front of the other Til I reach the stout wooden door Coming home. There's a fire on the hearth And a hot soup for me. A smile on my lover's face. Home is where the heart returns From every other place. We roam the earth for adventure To meet new folks and new ways We do our work in the outside world Facing dangers and troubled days

BLUE

BLUE Karen Lewis The sea isn't really blue. It's just the sky's reflection That makes it seem true. The sky isn't really blue. It's just the light getting scattered In the air above you. And I'm not blue. No I'm not blue. I'm not blue. Just a little bit empty Without you. When wrapped in a bow of blue The gift of your love seemed shiny and new When seen through a haze of blue The future's uncertain The view is askew But.. So why do we say true blue Is it cause we find true love Once in a blue moon When love leaves you black and blue Or in a blue funk Or cussin' a blue streak. Still...

WE'RE ALL HERE TO MAKE MUSIC

WE'RE ALL HERE TO MAKE MUSIC Karen Lewis After all we're all here to make music. After all we're all here to make music. Music comes from every voice. Sing your music, make your choice. Music comes from every hand. Choose an instrument and join the band. Music comes from all our feet. Get up dancin' and keep the beat. Music comes from every heart. Share your music, take your part.

ALL THAT YOU GIVE COMES BACK (TIDE GOES OUT)

ALL THAT YOU GIVE COMES BACK (TIDE GOES OUT) Karen Lewis Tide goes out, comes back in, With the waves, rollin' on to the sand. Give your gifts with an open hand. Somehow all that you give comes back Somehow all that you give comes back To you again. Sometimes hard work seems to leak down the drainpipe Leaving you with empty hands. But if you don't have time and you don't have money It takes some faith to prosper again. So prime the pump, get the water flowing. Pass the bucket round to your friends. Stone soup never was made with a stone But with the products of a village's hands. If you draw your gun, you can be sure as shootin' The other fella's drawin' his too. The world is a hard place if you put on a harsh face. A boomerang that comes back to you. So smile at the stranger, offer up a handshake. Exercise your patience anew. What we see in others is a mirror reflection Of the things that we say and do.

ISLAND TIME

ISLAND TIME Karen Lewis Folks in our lives More important than getting everything done. Shouldn't we all be on island time? What if we could be on island time? What if we all were on island time? Island time, island time? Folks in our lives More important than getting everywhere fast. Shouldn't we all be on island time? Porches face the street on island time.

LITTLE CREATURES

LITTLE CREATURES Karen Lewis Salamanders curl in the deep damp duff Where neither cold nor heat can reach. In the deep forest gloaming The little creatures hide, Building up the forest so the Earth can breathe. Caterpillars chew the green canopy, Food for the birds in the trees. Ant workers dig in the bite of wood, Building nests for the colony. Wild bees hover in their honey dance Pollinating flowers ‘neath the trees. Earthworms wriggle through the forest floor Churning the debris into soil. Hoverflies hang in the sunlight streaks Waiting for their mates to see. Spider spinners stand in their webs of silk Dewdrops bejewelling the strings.

HOLD LIGHTLY

HOLD LIGHTLY Karen Lewis Hold possessions lightly.  Use them in their time, give them all away.  A paintbrush in the hand, balanced soft and clean,  Seashells from the sand, a silver antique tray,  Give them all away.   Hold your friendships lightly,  Think of them betimes,  Even far away.  People come and go in our lifetimes, Share our thoughts,  Walk together now, Send you happy love,  Even far away.   Hold your lover lightly,  Bring him to your heart, Each and every day.  Let him know the joy and the courage....that he brings  Let him find his way, Call him out to play...  Each and every day.   Hold your children lightly,  Wrap them in your arms, Cheer them on their way.  Children are a gift to remind us, frequently...  To open up our eyes, Let them make you wise,  Cheer them on their way.  ...
