TROPICAL MEMORIES
TROPICAL MEMORIES
Karen Lewis
Tropical memories, take me south where it’s warm.
Where the sunshine is on my skin,
An infusion of warmth like gin
‘Tween the sunlight and shade, it’s a sweet promenade,
Almost like comin’ home.
Where the waters are turquoise clear
And the sea life is bright and near
To the water we’re born, so we surf and we float,
Almost like comin’ home.
Where the plants grow with vig’rous speed
And bananas grow up, up like weeds,
And the palms sway serene, a profusion of green,
Almost like comin’ home.
Where the sun sets in golden streaks
O’er the islands of mountain peaks.
At the end of the day, tension all falls away,
Almost like comin’ home.
Maybe we’ll go home today, maybe we’ll go home today,
Maybe we’ll go home today, home....
