ALL MY DESIRES

ALL MY DESIRES
Karen Lewis

All my desires  are leading me astray.
Another scarf in crimson.  An apple from New Zealand far away.
A drive to the beach all alone, for an hour just to play.
How can I get my heart to bow to reason.  I need to find a way.

Living as I desire, it cannot be sustained.
The icebox in my kitchen, the furnace, and the many-burner range.
And what of the tree that was cut for my paper use today?
If I can't live more lightly, who can I ask to do the same.

All my desires..... Let them float away.
